House by Aquastain in Abbotsford

Daizen partnered with home designer Kevin Simoes to develop a framing solution for this stunning timber frame home in Abbotsford, BC, which utilized special steel tension rods within the grain-matched, curved truss. Additional solutions were conceived for a “floating” wood and steel staircase that is a focal point of the interior design. Daizen integrated a 30×30 30′ centre stair post made from timber that runs the height of the home. It has been kiln dried, sliced into three separate pieces and glued back together to provide appropriate support and eliminate opportunities for the stairs to shrink or twist over time.
